Terms and Conditions

Terms and conditions for BASIC RIDERCOURSE

Course curriculum runs approximately 15 to 18 hours.  The primary structure of the BRC consists of three segments. Segment 1 is the MSF Basic e-Course, which is completed on your own, takes about 3-hours to complete and is required to be completed prior to the first class session. Segment 2 is the formal classroom component that usually takes around 5-hours to complete. Segment 3 is the on-cycle component that typically takes 10-hours to complete. The Basic RiderCourse program provides helmets, motorcycles (100cc to 350cc) and instructional material for student use.  You MUST bring your own DOT approved helmet.  RENJ is not loaning out helmets at this time.

Pre-Course Assignment
 – You are required to complete the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) eCourse before the first date of your scheduled class.  Follow the link in the Auto-Generated Course Registration email you will receive after you register.  (Check your SPAM/JUNK folder) and use your unique Promotional eCourse Code to access this course.  DO NOT put your credit card number on the MSF website as your eCourse has already been purchased.  If you put in your credit card, MSF will charge you for the course and neither MSF nor RENJ will reimburse you for the eCourse fee for any reason.  Be sure to print your eCourse Completion Certificate and bring it with you to class.  *Note* The eCourse Completion Certificate is ONLY valid for 30 days.  If you complete your eCourse too early for your class date, you will have to take it again to be sure your Certificate is valid for your course date.  There is no additional fee to go back in your MSF account and RETAKE the eCourse under your SAME username.

If you are 5’2″ or under you will need to size up at least 2 weeks before your course. Visit one of our sites on a Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 7:30am-12pm, when we have a scheduled class, let the RiderCoach know you are there to “size up” and sit on the motorcycle.  You need to make sure you can reach the ground and controls.  This is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!   Call the RENJ office to make an appointment to size up!

You must provide:

-full-fingered gloves
-eye protection
-over the ankle boots
-a long sleeve shirt OR a jacket
-long pants (jeans are preferred-not baggy, NO sweatpants or leggings)
-lunch, snacks and drinks
-driver license OR valid motorcycle permit
-e-Course completion certificate
-DOT approved helmet – or you can use one of ours

If you have a driver’s license, you DO NOT have to obtain a valid motorcycle permit.  If your license is from NJ and you successfully pass the Basic RiderCourse, the written and road test will be waived at MVC. If you do not have a driver’s license, you must have a validated permit or you will not be allowed to attend the class, and will forfeit the fees paid. A validated permit includes a passed written and vision test. Both must be indicated in writing on the front of the permit. Check your expiration date; your permit expires every 90 days, and you must retake the written and vision test every 2 years. The permit must be valid through the entire course.  If your permit and/or Auto Driver’s License are from a state other than NJ (or you do not hold an Auto Driver’s license) you DO NOT qualify for the MVC Test Waivers though you can still take the course.  RENJ does not assume any responsibility for errors made by MVC. You must ensure that your paperwork is correct.

Because riding any two-wheel vehicle involves balance YOU MUST proficiently ride a bicycle. You will be tested on a bicycle prior to being allowed to ride a motorcycle in the class. Not being able to handle a motorcycle in a safe manner will excuse you from further participation in the class and no refund will be given.

Your e-Course details will be emailed to you in your “Course Registration Notification” after completing this registration
(CHECK YOUR SPAM/JUNK FOLDER). You must complete your e-Course before the first day of class.

RESCHEDULING/CANCELLATION POLICY – All cancellations must be made via phone with one of our office representatives. No cancellations will be accepted via the internet or voice mail. If you need to reschedule/cancel your scheduled class – and it is more than 10 business days before the first day of your course, refunds are given minus a $50 administrative fee, or you can schedule in to another class, providing one is available, for a $25 rescheduling fee.  No refunds will be issued and no rescheduling will occur if you cancel less than 10 business days prior to the start of your scheduled class unless we are able to fill your spot.  RENJ cannot carry funds over season to season; if you are eligible to reschedule, but there are no dates available to you, you will have to cancel with the applicable fee at that time. Please do not register for more than one class unless you intend on taking all the classes you register for. You must be prepared and attend 100% of the class; you cannot be late, unprepared or miss any part of the classroom or range activities. If you do you will lose your spot and your money. If you do not show up to your scheduled class, you will forfeit the fees paid if no one takes your spot at the site.  It is the primary responsibility of the RiderCoaches to ensure that the class is held in a safe manner. Should you be excused by your RiderCoach for any reason, including but not limited to, an unsafe act while in control of a motorcycle, no refund will be given. Unsafe acts are determined at the sole discretion of the RiderCoaches. RIDER EDUCATION OF NJ IS HERE TO ASSIST IN YOUR LEARNING, BUT WE CANNOT GUARANTEE IT.
